I chanced upon the book-The sky is crazy at kinokuniya yesterday. On the cover of the book, there is an illustration of a lady lugging a trolley, hair bunned up in what seem to be like a kebaya(something that looks like SQ/Malaysia's airline uniform). The cover caught my attention and i picked it up immediately without much hesitation. And before you can even say "omg", i went to the cashier and paid for my new found book happily.

"oh my god!" This book is so closely related to m!. Or rather, i am sure every stewardess will be able to somehow relate their life with Yvonne's. Yvonne used to be working in the airline from the eighties to the nineties. In this book, she talks about her experiences from the years she worked in the airline. From angry passenger, scarey hotel incidents, long haul flights, grooming, the supposedly glamourous side of flying, and some of the dirty secrets of my job.

I felt so close at heart when i see the book! "for a quirky expose and a slew of charades from flyers around the world." I like every single chapter of the book and quickly finished the book within two days! The chapters are filled with a light sense of humour. "i fly i see i take lor!" reflects very kiasu globetrotters. There are passengers who groped everything into their bag.. everything anything.. as long as they are able to fit it into their bags. From casserole plates, airline utensils, poker cards, free EDT(Jal's one happen to be from shiseido)..blabla u name it they take it. Its true! haha. But sometimes it isnt exactly because they are kiasu, like what yvonne said, it can be that person's first airbourne adventure and she just wants to keep something from the plane as souvenir. And i hate to see people's disappointed face. So my personal policy is, as long as i dont know that you take, its fine with me. hehehe. But there was once i had to reject this passenger straight out to the face and even demanded the casserole plates back. That is all because, she came to the galley, pry open the galley curtains and asked in mandarin, "xiao jie ah, ke bu ke yi zai gei wo duo ji ge siao pan ah? Ta men hao ke ai, wo xiang na duo ji ge.(miss, can u pls give me a few more of those plates? They look so cute, i want to take a few more.) Upon hearing that, i almost fainted! hahaaaa.. My jap incharge looked at me curiously, awaiting for me to explain the situation to her. I had no choice!! So i had to tell my in charge the story and got back those cute little casserole plates. LOL.

Besides recommending this book to those who're flying, i will also highly recommend it to those who are pondering if they should join the friendly skies. It helps to give an insight of a stewardess life and some of the challenges behind the "glamour". I wish that i should have chance upon it earlier.. even before the i join the airline. hahaa. Not that i am regreting anything abt my job, but this book helps to give you some background knowledge of what's ahead waiting for you if u join the airline.

I absolutely love this book! Go get it!

You've got the poison, I've got the remedy.
